As your aircraft enters the Paro valley, look down and see the Paro Dzong on the hillside overlooking Paro Chu (river) with Ta Dzong. Be met in the arrival hall and drive to Thimpu. Enroute halt at Chojum and photographs of confluence of two rivers of Bhutan - Thumpu Chu and Paro Chu. Reach Thimpu (alt. 7375 ft) and the entire day is free to relax in the hotel or roam around Thimpu on your own.

After breakfast visit The National Memorial Chorten, a site for evening prayers, Sakyamuni Buddha, on top of Kuensel Phodrang hill sits the statue of 51.5 mtr. Sakyamuni Buddha, and also get uninterrupted view of the valley, Changangkha Lhakhang, 15 th century Buddhist structure, Takin Zoo, see the National and endangered animal of Bhutan “Takin”, found only in Bhutan, The National Library, for it’s collection of priceless Buddhist manuscripts and the world’s largest published book weighing 60 kgs and 5x7 ft in dimension, Zorig Chusum, a painting school, The Royal Textile Museum, get introduced to Bhutanese textiles, dating back to the 1600s and Trashi Chhoe Dzong , built in 1641, and reconstructed in 1960s in Bhutanese manner, without nails or architectural plans.

Dochula view point, Dochu La pass, Punakha Dzong
After breakfast, drive to Punakha. Enroute, visit Dochula view point, Dochu La pass (10170 ft.), way above the clouds offering a glimpse of the Eastern Himalayan range. Also visit Punakha Dzong also known as “the palace of great happiness”, located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu (father) and Mo Chhu (mother) rivers in Punakha. Amongst the most picturesque of all Bhutan’s ancient fortresses, it is joined to the mainland by an arched wooden bridge, and contains precious relics from the past. Also visit a newly developed small beautiful Bazo Town in Wangdue. Reach Punakha and check into your hotel to relax or on your own stroll around enjoying the beauty around. Enroute visit the 1629 built Simtokha Dzong, housing Dzongkha language learning institutes, National Museum of Bhutan, built in 1968, the museum houses the finest specimens of Bhutanese art, paintings and bronze tatues, the 1969 built Drukgyal Dzong, a fortress and Buddhist monastery, now in ruins, Ta Dzong, a watchtower, built to defend Rinpung Dzong during inter-valley wars in the 17 th century, Rinpung Dzong, built in 1646 now the office of the district administrative head and Thrimpon (judge) of Paro district, Paro Airport View Point, the finest valley view point to see the airport overlooking the Paro river, the Dzongs and Monastery.

After breakfast, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, an important Himalayan Buddhist temple, The Jowo Temple of Kyichu is amongst the oldest temples in Bhutan, originally built in the 7th century, Nyamai Zam, this 20-metres long bridge flaunts Bhutanese wooden craftsmanship, Dungtse Lhankhang, a rare, temple in form of chorten, Tamchog Lhakhang and chain-link suspension bridge and Ta Dzong, a conch-shaped fortress housing more than 3000 artifacts. With some dating back 1500 years OR visit Tiger’s nest, if are willing to aprx 3-hr trek and brave the risky cliffs on a high mountain, surely visit this monastery, (alt. 3937 ft) to reach this sacred site.
